Larry Eger is the elected Public Defender of the 12th Judicial Circuit, which includes the Florida counties of Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto. He earned his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Florida.
​
Larry is a co-founder and past president of the public charter school Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences and a past board member of Jewish Families and Children’s Services.
​
Larry presently serves as board chair of Legal Aid Manasota, a nonprofit that provides legal services to the indigent in civil matters. He also sits on the board of the ACLU Sarasota and serves on its statewide legal panel. He chairs the Education Committee of the Public Defender’s Association and is a member of the Manatee County Public Safety Coordinating Council and the Sarasota Criminal Justice Commission.

As a part-time resident of Eleuthera, Larry has found a platform at CORE to continue to share his passion for community-driven initiatives and to support the rigorous science platform delivered by CORE.
